Chem 91 Scientific Writing
3 units (1-0-2); third term

Training in the writing of scientific research papers. Each student must complete a 3,000-word paper styled after an article in the Journal of the American Chemical Society on a subject of chemical or biochemical relevance. The manuscript may be based on a paper submitted by the student for a previous class or on a SURF report, but it must be the student’s original writing and be within the intellectual scope of the chemistry and chemical engineering division. Each student will work individually with a faculty member under the supervision of the course instructor. Fulfills the Institute scientific writing requirement. Instructor: Weitekamp.
