Visiting Campus for Chemistry Graduate Students

We encourage all admitted prospective graduate students to visit the Caltech campus, so that you can make an informed decision. You can come on one of two Visit Weekends in 2008: Thursday-Saturday, March 13-15 or March 27-29; alternatively, if you cannot attend one of these weekends, then you can come to Caltech at your convenience. We will keep this page updated, so please check regularly (especially for Visit Weekend information).

Checklist
For those of you attending a Visit Weekend, please make your travel reservations. Complete all forms (travel, research interests, weekend activities) on the checklist and send by e-mail, fax, or snail-mail.

For those of you who will come independently, please send in the travel and research interest forms once you have decided on travel dates. If you are undecided on dates, you can contact Laura to find out the best dates (based on faculty availability, campus schedules).

Visit Weekends 2008
The Visit Weekends are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 14-15 and March 28-29. Below is a summary of the activities. Please be sure to fill out the activities form indicating your preferences and extent of participation.

We recommend that you arrive on Thursday by 5pm, to join our students and other prosectives for dinner in Pasadena.

Friday will begin with lab tours in the morning, followed by appointments with faculty through 5PM. Lunch will be with graduate students. There will be a poster session, happy hour with faculty and grad students, followed by dinner.

The Saturday schedule is relatively informal, with activities such as hiking or museums that will allow you to see the area. Lunch will be provided.

Airport Information and Ground Transportation
Two airports are convenient to Pasadena, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Burbank Airport (BUR). Burbank is about 20 minutes away and is more convenient, but has limited service. LAX is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour from Pasadena.

When you arrive, we recommend that you take Supershuttle (blue/gold vans). This company serves the entire LA area. At LAX, Supershuttle can be found at the VAN stops on the traffic islands located outside of baggage claim at each terminal. At Burbank, Supershuttle is also located at a traffic island outside the terminal. Dispatchers will be there to call in a van to Pasadena for you.
