Visiting Campus for Chemistry Graduate Students

(This page will be updated regularly, so please check back for the most up-to-date information.)

We strongly encourage all admitted prospective graduate students to visit the Caltech campus, so that you can make an informed decision. In 2010, there will be two Visit Weekends, February 18-20 and March 18-20. Once you are admitted, you should make arrangements to attend one of the two Visit Weekends. These Visit Weekends are very informative and most faculty and graduate students will be available to give you a taste of graduate school at Caltech.

For those of you attending the Visit Weekends, please make your own flight/travel arrangements. Hotel accommodations will be handled through our office. Please note that we will not be hosting any individual visits, so it is very important that you sign up for one of the Visit Weekends as early as possible.

Visit Weekends 2010

The Visit Weekend schedule is as follows:
The Weekend runs from Thursday evening to Saturday afternoon. We recommend that you arrive by 5pm on Thursday to join our students and other prospective students for dinner in Pasadena. Friday is the day for main events where you will go on lab tours, meet with individual faculty, have lunch with our students, attend poster sessions, and follow by happy hour and dinner with faculty and graduate students. Saturday schedule is relatively informal, with activities such as hiking or museums that will allow you to see the LA area. Lunch will be provided
.

Airport Information and Ground Transportation
Two airports are convenient to Pasadena, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Burbank Airport (BUR). Burbank is about 20 minutes away and is more convenient, but has limited service. LAX is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour from Pasadena.

When you arrive, we recommend that you take Supershuttle (blue/gold vans). This company serves the entire LA area. At LAX, Supershuttle can be found at the VAN stops on the traffic islands located outside of baggage claim at each terminal. At Burbank, Supershuttle is also located at a traffic island outside the terminal. Dispatchers will be there to call in a van to Pasadena for you.
